NeonMood privacy policy

NeonMood works entirely on your device. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and nothing is uploaded.

Last updated . Applies to NeonMood for iPad, including on Mac and Apple Vision Pro.

In short

NeonMood is made by AJA Digital (“we”), Daniel's one-person app studio. NeonMood works entirely on your device. It contains no networking code and no third-party code, and we don't run a server for it, so we never receive any of your data.

This page covers the NeonMood app. The website ajadigital.co has its own privacy policy.

The camera and your face

NeonMood uses the camera to follow how your facial muscles move.

  • On iPads with Face ID, it uses Apple's ARKit face tracking, which reports about 50 muscle-movement values and a face mesh for each frame.
  • On other iPads, on a Mac and on Apple Vision Pro, it uses Apple's Vision framework to find facial landmarks in the camera image.

This is used on your device, only to draw the hologram and estimate your expression, and is then discarded. NeonMood never saves, records or sends camera images, video, face meshes or landmarks. It doesn't identify you or recognize faces, and face data is never used for advertising, analytics or anything other than the live readout.

The optional CAMERA preview shows the live image on screen only. The camera runs only while the scanner is on screen (a LIVE indicator shows when it does) and stops when you leave the app.

What stays on your device

  • Mood log. When you log a reading (or turn on auto-log), NeonMood saves the time, the expression label, the confidence, valence and arousal numbers (for that moment and smoothed over the last few seconds), the seven expression scores, which face sensor was used, whether you logged it yourself, and any correction you make.
  • Calibration. A few numbers describing your relaxed face and head pose.
  • Personal tuning, only if you use TEACH or WRONG?: averages of muscle-movement numbers for each expression, your corrections as expression names and counts, and the accepted Teach takes as numbers. Never images.
  • Settings, such as effects and auto-log.

This data is stored in the app's private storage with the system's file protection. It isn't synced to iCloud, and we can't access it.

App Store privacy label

NeonMood's App Store privacy label says Data Not Collected: nothing leaves your device, so nothing is collected by us or anyone else.

What we don't do

  • No accounts or sign-in.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party SDKs. We don't sell or share data.
  • No servers of our own for the app: there is nothing for us to keep, so nothing for us to delete.

If you contact us for support, we use your message and email address only to reply to you. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered by Netlify Forms, as described in the website privacy policy.

Children

NeonMood is rated 4+ and has no accounts, chat or sharing. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices and deleting your data

  • In History, swipe to delete an entry, or use PURGE ALL.
  • In INFO, use CLEAR CALIBRATION and RESET PERSONAL TUNING.
  • Deleting the app deletes all of its data.
  • You can turn off camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera (on a Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera).

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If NeonMood ever starts sending any data off your device, it will ask you first.
